Out with a whimper

AIQL 3 PFFC 0

And so it goes…

Having taken the London Football League by storm in its debut season and having seen off many tough opposition teams in matches packed together in a congested season, Philosophy finally came to the end. This final showdown had been specially scheduled by the league organiser to be against the team that had become both our title contenders and bitter rivals.

Eleven men lined up for a match that at this stage, with the league title safely in the bag, felt like a Community Shield game. Sadly the team on the night lacked the fighting spirit that had seen us clinch that title, and AIQL breezed past us in the end with a convincing victory. There should have been a matter of pride in keeping a 100% record over these mouthy opponents, but Thinking minds were distracted by the greater glory already achieved.

AIQL may have had their last hurrah, but PFFC had the loudest cheers, having won their third title in succession. It was a disappointing end to a fantastic season, but this memory will be lost among the many great memories from our campaign.

The Premiership awaits.
