Thinkers produce goal explosion
TNT 0 PFFC 6
A great 6-0 victory against TNT yesterday meant we stay sixth in the table, but are now only four points behind the leaders with a game in hand.
We did what we needed to do against weak opposition who had a few good players but not really up to the challenge of a mostly fluid red team. Filippo was welcomed back to London on his first trip back after leaving for Madrid and The Gaffer stood at the sidelines to watch the latest generation of PFFC easily send their opponents to the lower half of the table.
The red men didn't have it all their own way but after a period of around 15 minutes in the first half when we were losing the aerial battle, we changed our game and played the ball on the ground – a tactic TNT could not handle.
The red men got off to a great start with an early goal from Clarkey but it was after this that TNT played their best football of the game and scared the reds with some balls over the top and some shots on goal. We settled after we scored the second and third goals from Kieran and Ally with some excellent one-touch play and assists from Bryan. From this point on, we were in control and another two goals from Clarkey and Bryan meant we were 5-0 up at half time.
At the start of the second half, Filippo made his entrance to replace Clarkey up front, hoping to impress some of his PFFC Madrid's winning ways onto his London counterparts. We continued to play well but eased up a lot although still managed to score again with Kieran securing his brace and an excellent record of 9 goals in 6 games. Special mention to the back four and Matt who made some outstanding saves to keep a clean sheet that helped the team to secure the best goal difference in the league at the present time.
A great win then and one that puts us right in the mix with the leaders. Typical of the league we're in, there are 5 other teams jostling for first place so have a look at the table when you get a moment.
PFFC (4-4-2): Matt; Damo, Phil, Owen, Tony (Rico 75); Bryan (1), Tamber, Ally (1), Tom (Andy 60); Clarkey (2) (Filippo 55), Kieran (2)
